#1 - The Beginning
I am so excited to be starting Nest Physical Therapy!
After over two decades as a physical therapist, treating a wide variety of patients, one thing remains near and dear to my heart: helping mothers achieve their prenatal and postpartum goals through physical therapy.
I know how I felt when I was pregnant, how I felt during the birth of my two children, and what I encountered in the weeks and months afterward. These were physically challenging times for my body and I was fortunate to have the PT experience to understand, remedy and prevent pains and prepare for challenges to come. I want to bring that knowledge to you - my patients, and everyone I can reach online.
It is surprising and unfortunate to me how little PT is prescribed to pregnant and postpartum mothers. This is especially true in the United States in the timeframe immediately following the birth, when everything a woman does is so critical to long term results. My stretch goal with Nest Physical Therapy is to change the healthcare industry’s standard for 0-6 week postpartum physical therapy. That one is going to take a while in this country, although there is a growing awareness of how other countries value PT for postpartum mothers. In the meantime, I am excited to educate and empower every mother I can with Nest Physical Therapy.
I hope to bring useful and inspirational information to everybody, everywhere with tools like this blog. And for mothers in southern New Hampshire, I look forward to personally helping you overcome physical challenges, build your strength and resilience, and thrive through your pregnancy, childbirth and beyond. Let’s get started!
