FAQs

  • Do you only treat mothers?

No. My goal with Nest Physical Therapy is to focus on the physical therapy needs of prenatal and postpartum mothers. However, if you have a need outside of this focus, I am happy to advise you on a case-by-case basis. I also welcome all people in the LGBTQ+ community and provide unbiased care to those seeking physical therapy services.

  • What kind of pelvic floor therapy do you offer?

I treat common pelvic floor conditions associated with pregnancy such as urinary incontinence, dyspareunia, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic floor muscle strengthening, coccydynia, pubic symphysis separation, diastasis recti and other conditions. Interventions are often non-invasive and might include ergonomic recommendations, manual therapy, taping techniques, exercises, or modalities based on individual need. An internal pelvic muscle assessment may be discussed and included if necessary.

  • What can I expect my sessions to be like?

If you opt for sessions in the comfort of your home, feel free to dress comfortably! Have a small area available to lie down and space to go through your exercise movements. Sessions last about an hour and will be tailored to your specific needs. A benefit of in-home care is that you won’t need a babysitter or pet-sitter, and we can work with the conditions and equipment you have with you every day. Whether we work together in your home or in the clinic, sessions are guided by a functional approach using a combination of exercises and manual therapy.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

Payment can be made by personal check, cash, credit card or HSA/FSA (Health Savings Account/Flexible Spending Account) debit cards.

  • Do you accept insurance?

No. I am an out-of-network provider but I will provide you with a detailed invoice which can usually be applied to your out-of-network deductible. It’s always good to check with your insurance to be aware of your benefits. I use Reimbursify to simplify this process for you. Reimbursify will verify your out-of-network benefits for free and submit a claim for you for $2.99 per claim.

By not contracting with insurance companies, I have the freedom to provide exactly the treatment you require for the duration you require, one-on-one. Also, you do not need to wait for a physician’s referral to get started so you can start feeling better sooner!

  • What should I wear to my prenatal water exercise class?

We understand your bathing suit may not fit during this time! You might invest in a maternity bathing suit or wear a regular two-piece bathing suit. If you choose to wear shorts and a t-shirt, synthetic material workout clothes are better than cotton when it gets wet. Bring a towel, a change of clothes, and maybe a pair of shower shoes.
